Short Drama
1M, 2W
How much do the stories we tell ourselves about our past determine our present?
How much of who we are is recycled trauma, and how much is our own shitty behavior?
For a teacher, her student, and his girlfriend a decade later, the answers to these questions are far from simple.
EVERYTHING IS WONDERFUL received its short-format festival premiere as part of the 2009 Cut To The Quick Festival at the Side Project in Chicago. Gina LoPiccolo directed the production.

REVIEWS
“Sticks to the ribs…trades in honest-to-God sex appeal.”
— Christopher Piatt, TimeOut Chicago
“The script provides a nuanced understanding of human sexuality and cultural mores that is surprisingly deep for such a short work.”
— Randy Hardwick, Chicago Critic
“In Marcantel’s nuanced, undidactic handling of her story, the girlfriend’s eagerness to use the statutory rape as an all-purpose explanation for her boyfriend’s behavior demonstrates the limitations of letting one chapter in a life stand for the whole story.”
— Zac Thompson, Chicago Reader
