Chelsea’s first animated project was a feature adaptation of the novel GOLDELINE by Jimmy Cajoleas.
Raised by bandits outside society, orphaned witch Goldeline believes that teaching herself magic will keep her safe and help her find her place in the world. But when the fanatical Preacher who killed her mother hunts her down, Goldeline must run — making her way through places wild and civilized, encountering cruelty and kindness, while struggling with her past and her first real friendship. It is only by putting together the fragmented wisdom of her encounters on the road that Goldeline is able to develop her own magic and finally confront the Preacher, saving her new friend and herself. In the end, she learns that we don’t find our place in the world – we make it.
GOLDELINE is a magical coming-of-age animated feature set in a vibrant world next door to ours, but what really makes it come alive are the multidimensional, knotty characters and their very human motivations and fears.
