BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Theatre Arts will present a lab production of Chelsea Marcantel’s comedy LADYISH March 24-26.
Set in present-day Los Angeles and 1801 England, Ladyish depicts fictionalized Kardashian sisters chasing the dream of their own reality show, and fictionalized Bronte sisters in England pursuing the dream of an advantageous marriage. Marcantel says the play flows back and forth in time, as two families of women pursue the ultimate goals they believe will save them: a reality show, and an advantageous marriage. It is a story about the consequences of choice, and the evolution of women in western culture–or not.
The show will be directed by guest artist Lisa Dixon, a professional actor, director and associate professor of theatre at the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign. Ryann Chioda ’18 is serving as assistant director. Cast members include Megan Sperger ’18, LeeAnna Studt ’17, Elizabeth Ferris ’17, Catherine Mojsiewicz ’19, Haley Miller ’17, and Jeffrey Keller ’18.
Curtain is at 8 p.m. each evening in the E. Melba Johnson Kirkpatrick Lab Theatre. Tickets are $3 for general admission and seniors, and $2 for students with a valid ID. Tickets are on sale from March 9-16, and are available at the McPherson Hall box office.
