Marcantel’s play, “Devour,” takes an insider view into the lives of the rich, privileged, and rebellious youth of high society socialites and the scary lengths that some will go simply for a mention in the entertainment news.  More importantly Marcantel tells the story of a young, smart, and beautiful woman who has never quite felt like she fits in.  At the end of day, everyone’s quest for love and acceptance is the same.  For the rich, it just means that some blood may be shed.  “In the over saturated market of celebrity news, it takes a lot to stand out” says Stone, “who is ultimately responsible for the crimes we commit: the consumers, celebrities, or reporters?  Would one exist without the other?”

“Marcantel’s play is a great mix of topical humor and a stylized view into today’s society, which is an important part of our mission: to produce new, fresh works by female playwrights” says Lindsay Bartlett, Artistic Director.  “Stone is bringing a great outlook to this wickedly funny and oddly sensitive production of this new work.”  “Devour” will feature Lindsay Bartlett, Chad Bay, Sean Ewert, Joshua Harris, Kristen Johnson, Kitty Morland, and Cassandra Quinn.

Jacqueline Stone is founding company member of TUTA Theatre Chicago, and most recently appeared in TUTA’s highly acclaimed productions of “Fulton Street Sessions,” “The Wedding,” “Baal” and “Uncle Vanya”.  Recent directing credits include “Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus!” and “Junie B. Jones, in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!” at Emerald City Theatre Company, where she also serves as Education Director.  Jacqueline is the co-founder of Sirens, the longest running all-female improv group in the country, and performs in an open run at The Second City.  She is a faculty member at The Second City, TUTA, and Columbia College.

Chelsea Marcantel is a playwright originally from Louisiana, who now lives in Virginia, and works in Chicago and New York City.  In Chicago, Chelsea has been an active self-producer of her own work, most notably of the (a)Symmetry Cycle plays that ran at the Viaduct Theatre in 2010.  She has also worked with Victory Gardens, The Hypocrites, The Side Project, Collaboraction, The Inconvenience, The State Theatre, and Hobo Junction, among others.  Her newest play “Even Longer and Farther Away” will receive a reading in May 2012 at the Frederick Loewe Room in Times Square.
